HE'S BEEN IN THE WATER A LITTLE TOO LONG
He said, "I hope my swim will inspire world leaders to take climate change seriously." He really knows how to go for the jugular, doesn't he? My gosh, how can they not take climate change seriously now?
"I want my children, and their children, to know that polar bears are still living in the Arctic. These creatures are on the front line up here..." I feel so much more secure knowing that the polar bears are standing between me and climate change.
"I am obviously ecstatic to have succeeded, but this swim is a triumph and a tragedy: a triumph that I could swim in such ferocious conditions but a tragedy that it's possible to swim at the North Pole..." I know I've asked this before, but do these people have to study somewhere to become so mind-bogglingly stupid or does it just come natural?

Wow. Maybe he'll get pneumonia and die an untimely death... and all to raise awareness for climate change and global warming.
I am really enjoying these posts! ; )
Your sarcasm is so refreshing. *sigh* I miss my weekly doses...:)
Actually, I badly want to lay odds that he really did it just to do it (which would be a good reason), and wanted to see if someone would pay him if he made up a reason...
"It just comes natural..."
Note that he chose to swim in the "waterhole" in mid-summer. Bet that ice will be back by the fall.
WAIT! Is the title of the article's grammar wrong?! Should it not be "affecting" the polar ice cap?
"Do these people have to study somewhere to become so mind-bogglingly stupid or does it just come natural?" For a few precious individuals it comes naturally, but for most it requires years of specialized academic study. Princeton and Harvard offer Doctorates in Stupidity, although Yale offers an even more specialized degree in Insanity.
